Acoustic Consulting
A proper acoustic environment enhances the performance of any audiovisual system, but is especially important in rooms where interactive discussion will take place across a distance, as with audio or video teleconferencing applications.
Proper facility acoustics also allows users to sit more comfortably for longer periods of time in a conference room, staying more alert and retaining more information. Typically, good acoustics in a conference room are only notable in their absence – from noisy air registers to vibrating fan assemblies to sound intruding from nearby corridors, we’ve all been subjected to these annoyances. Judicious use of acoustic principles in the facility design can not only provide increased system and facility performance, but can often decrease system costs by allowing the use of less sophisticated electronic equipment. Specific activities include the following:
- Review acoustic issues as related to the architectural design.
- Attend meetings with the design team to discuss acoustic issues.
- Establish basic criteria for ambient noise levels, permissible levels of noise intrusion and sound reverberation.
- Recommend construction details for partition walls
- Recommend interior finish details
- Review ductwork layout and diffuser selections
- Provide sketches detailing items that affect the acoustic performance
